THE CAMP: Essamaye is an ecotourist lodge (camp) on the island of Mar Lodj in the Sine-Saloum delta. The camp was established and built, and is now run, by the energetic Xavier Diatta, who modeled it after camps in his native Casamance. Xavier also runs tours of Senegal. The ESSAMAYE receptive is a ten rooms Impluvium house. Beachfront, we offer a friendly place, away from tourist concentrations where a dynamic team welcomes you to enjoy a quality restoration. If you want something more active, you can have mountain bikes, kayaks for exploring the island in March and its inhabitants. Living among village people enables you to discover genuine Senegal and its local ways of life.

Senegal is a country to explore for nature lovers. You will discover beautiful landscapes such as the quiet mangrove bolongs or the mountains of Fouta. ESSAMAYE circuits are also on foot or by canoe, and, for families, our team can take care of children to allow more freedom for parents. Wherever possible and demanded, we favor the camps villagers in the spirit of supporting local initiatives, the benefit of these structures is subsequently used to fund projects for the village. The treks and boat trips offered are suitable for all levels of walkers, including children above the age of 7.
