The SINE SALOUM is located 4 hours south of the capital, DAKAR. It takes its name from the two rivers that water the region, and it is one of the most famous destinations in Senegal.

Its visitors are generously treated to its colours, cultures, fauna, flora and traditional ways of life.

Sine Saloum, the 2 rivers of Senegal
It is a genuine Delta formed by the sea which flows into the fossil river beds of the Saloum and the Siné respectively. The many sandy islands within the delta, which vary greatly in size, are covered with mangrove trees. The Sine Saloum is a national park. Numerous fishing villages sheltering several ethnic groups, mainly Sérère and Mandingue, are located at the edge of the national park. The most beautiful mangrove with trees of up to 5 meters in height is in the southern and least populated part of the park.
A refuge for many bird species, and a famous fishing area, the Siné Saloum is the ideal location for wildlife lovers, a world where silence is only interrupted by the sound of the wind, birdsong and men and women at work.

the nice life in Senegal

While dolphins and dugongs who tend to avoid human contact are rarely seen, a multitude of bird species can be observed, such as herons, including the giant goliath heron, pelicans, oyster catchers, plovers… Raptors can also be seen, like the osprey, the fishing eagle and the palmist vulture.

When stopping in the mangrove, it is possible to see a multitude of violonist crabs off their sand burrow, or periophtalme fish lying outside the water at low tide. They use their hind flipper as legs to run on the mud of the mangrove. A multitude of multicoloured birds hide among the mangrove trees, but with a bit of patience and discretion, you will be able to admire cardinals, rollers and king fishers.

Nature lovers can find a surprise at every corner of a bolong.
